Alabama State University (ASU) is a historically black university located in Montgomery, Alabama. It was founded in 1867 as the Lincoln Normal School, and in 1874 it became the first state-supported college for African Americans in Alabama. Today, ASU is a comprehensive university offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a variety of fields.
